Second level fusion
In the second level module, the flat fusion of various layers using colour is studied in depth. In this phase, all the semi-finished products used for fusion are presented one by one. They are, for instance, frits, wires, sheets with different thickness, sticks, etc. The firing curves become more and more complex. Particular attention is paid to thermo moulding complex fibre moulds, and the first objects with curves obtained with the free fall method are produced.
Work processes become increasingly difficult, requiring several firing cycles.
As regards gender crossover, in this stage students learn the technique for the fusion of special pieces to be fitted in lead or copper camed stained-glasses, small glass objects and jewels, such as rings, brooches, pendants, etc.
In this second level, the focus is on layer fusion techniques, thermo moulding, sagging, slumping and micro-fusion. |
