Basic Techniques
This subject, which is studied throughout the two-year course, covers the basic aspects and knowledge of industrial glass manufacturing. Students learn basic cold working techniques, such as positioning and storing glass sheets; free-hand, rule and cutting to shape or, finally, with a saw. All the refining stages are covered, from threading to the different types of bevelling and the main machine processes, including simple sandblasting and polishing.
Students are shown different ranges of glass products, organised by type, shape, colour, texture, and processing techniques, etc. Not to mention in-depth techniques and the history of processing methods for semi-finished glass products such as sheets, frits, sticks, wires, etc.
Lessons are both theoretical and practical. |
