FSE Two-year course

A course comprising 2500 hours of tuition begins every two years. These training courses are divided into weekly modules. Each course year begins in mid-October/early November and ends in October of the following year. During the summer we organise practical work experience in some companies. The courses are held every two years. Each course is open to fifteen students aged 18 - 25. The courses are funded wholly by the European Social Fund through the ESF office of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano.

Subjects are organised on a two-year course basis. The approach to teaching is based on past experience and focused on technique and practice. Technical aspects of glass manufacturing processes, firing curves, mould preparation, cutting to shape, sandblasting, etc. are the fundamental ABC of glass language.

This kind of teaching lets us combine the traditional aspects of handcraft, with professional standards and an experimental approach. We aim to enhance the expressive potential of glass, through gender crossover and by helping our students develop an approach to glass based on both respect and disenchantment. In the future, this will let them follow a personal path with their own technique and form of expression. This kind of approach represents the core of the Vetroricerca methodology, based on each teacher’s experience and skills.
